God’s Heart: Vaccinated or Unvaccinated?

Vaccinated, unvaccinated… what is God’s heart?

Do you have a lack of faith if you get vaccinated? Are you selfish if you don’t?

These are tough questions for the tough times we are living in. But I firmly believe that God has the answer, God is the answer for every situation we face. So, in this post we’re going to answer those questions and more.

1) Don’t Argue

“Again I say, don’t get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights. A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people.”

2 Timothy 2:23-24 (NLT)
  • Make it a point to refrain from arguments. That may mean keeping your opinion to yourself.
  • If you find yourself heading into an argument:
    • Stop talking
    • Listen
    • Try to see things from their perspective, even if you disagree
    • If you said something that may have been hurtful then apologize.

2) Focus on What God is Asking You to Do

  • That’s what Faith is all about
  • Faith is not doing whatever you want, feel, or think and expecting God to bless it
  • Faith is hearing from God and doing what He says

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

– Romans 10:17 (NKJV)
  • So hearing from God is the first step to Faith

“In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

– James 2:17 (NIV)
  • Action or obedience is the second step. You have to do what God says
  • God’s heart is for every Believer to follow His plan and purposes for them personally
  • God’s heart is for YOU to obey His voice in every situation, even when it comes to the vaccine
  • You have to be able to hear from God yourself. It is a must in these days

If you need more clarity and confidence in hearing from God be sure to check out: “How to Hear From God Personally

  • So if you’re doing what God is asking you to do concerning the vaccine, then it’s not a lack of faith
  • If you’re doing what God wants you to do, then you are submitting your will to His and that is not selfish. You are not selfish
  • If you are doing what God, who is love, is asking you to do, then you are not unloving
  • The safest place to be is at the centre of God’s will for your life
  • Only God can guarantee safety
  • Only God can guarantee eternal life (beyond this life)

3) God Can and Does Lead Believers Differently

“I tell you the truth, when you were young, you were able to do as you liked; you dressed yourself and went wherever you wanted to go. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others will dress you and take you where you don’t want to go. Jesus said this to let him know by what kind of death he would glorify God. Then Jesus told him, “Follow me. Peter turned around and saw behind them the disciple Jesus loved—the one who had leaned over to Jesus during supper and asked, “Lord, who will betray you? Peter asked Jesus, “What about him, Lord? Jesus replied, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? As for you, follow me.”

 – John 21:18-22 (NLT)
  • God may very well lead you differently than another Believer
  • How God leads another Believe is between them and God

4) Walk in Peace

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”

– Matthew 5:9 (NLT)
  • Give others the benefit of the doubt and focus on how He’s leading YOU
  • Give others the grace and freedom to follow God’s personal path for them
  • Don’t assume your way concerning this matter is the only way. That is pride

“And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

– James 4:6 (NLT)
  • Walk in humility
    • Recognize that, “I am human and only God knows everything”
    • “There are things that I don’t understand”
    • “There are things I don’t know about other people”
  • Don’t judge

“Who are you to condemn someone else’s servants? Their own master will judge whether they stand or fall. And with the Lord’s help, they will stand and receive his approval.”

– Romans 14:4 (NLT)
  • We don’t judge people, we judge the sins of other Believers
    • If you think another Believer is walking in sin, that is, going against the Word of God, whether that’s written or spoken, then be sure to go to God first
    • Caution: Make sure you do so in humility; searching your heart first
    • Ask God if and how He wants you to say anything

“I don’t speak on my own authority. The Father who sent me has commanded me what to say and how to say it.”

– John 12:49 (NLT)
  • Let’s take our pattern from Jesus

5) Walk in Unity

“I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.”

– John 17:23 (NLT)
  • God’s heart is that His people walk in unity
  • Instead of focusing on differences, focus on what unites – the Gospel of Christ

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

– John 3:16 (NLT)
  • The hour is getting late. Jesus is coming soon and His invitation to eternal life will soon expire
  • Only Satan and his evil plans of oppression and destruction benefit from the Body of Christ being divided.

6) Walk in Love

“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

– John 13:34-35 (NLT)
  • Unity and Love is what will propel the Good News of Jesus Christ
  • Love is what will cause people to take us seriously
  • Love is what will undo the works of the devil and push back the kingdom of darkness
  • One of the simplest yet best ways to walk in love with difficult people or people different from you is to pray for them
  • Prayer is a lot more powerful than we know and a lot more underrated than it should be

“…The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”

– James 5:16b (NLT)
  • Not sure what to pray? Pray this Scripture:

“So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.”

– Colossians 1:9-14 (NLT)

7) Pray for Leaders

“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.”

– 1 Timothy 2: 1-2 (NLT)
  • Ask God to help them
  • Pray for godly wisdom and that they will make decisions in alignment with God’s heart for His people to live the way He is guiding them
  • Pray that people will be able to live peaceful and godly lives without the threat of oppression or punishment

8) Remove Labels

  • Don’t ascribe labels to people that God didn’t give them. Let’s refrain from looking at each other as “vaccinated” or “unvaccinated” and let’s see each Believer in Christ as He sees them – as a Child of God. Let’s call each other, “Children of God”.

If you’re in a tough situation and need godly wisdom and direction for you personally, I can help you here.
