How to Hear from God Personally

Did you know that the #1 skill you need to develop in order to live a truly successful life is to hear from God? God knows everything including ALL of the secrets to success and He can reveal them to you directly.

That’s why I’ll be sharing with you tips on how you can hear from God personally.

1) Believe that God is Speaking

“For God speaks again, though people do not recognize it.”

Job 33:14 (NLT)

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”

– John 10:27 (NLT)

This means that if you are a Believer and Follower of Jesus Christ you can hear God’s voice.

2) Remove the Obstacles to Hearing God’s Voice

Obstacle #1: Unforgiveness/Sin

“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”

– Romans 3:23 (NLT)

“It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.”

– Isaiah 59:2 (NLT)

The good news? Jesus has made a way for unforgiveness and sin to be removed so you can better hear from God!

How to Remove Unforgiveness/Sin (and Become a Follower of Jesus)

  • Have a Desire to Know God
  • Confess Your Sins

“But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.”

– 1 John 1:9 (NLT)
  • Confess Jesus is Lord
  • Believe God Raised Him From the Dead

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

– Romans 10:9 (NLT)
  • Extend Forgiveness to Others

“But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.”

– Mark 11:25 (NLT)

Obstacle #2: Other Voices & Opinions

  • Filter what you watch on TV
  • Go on a social media fast
  • Be  intentional about your inner circle

3) Draw Close to God

  • Choose a Private Space

“But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.”

 – Matthew 6:6 (NLT)

“One day soon afterward Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, and he prayed to God all night.”

– Luke 6:12 (NLT)
  • Set Aside the Time

“Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray.”

– Mark 1:35 (NLT)
  • Praise, Worship, and Thank God

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name.”

– Psalm 100:4 (NLT)

“Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.”

– Psalm 22:3 (NLT)
  • Pray – Speak to God

“Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.”

– Jeremiah 33:3 (NLT)
  • Spend Time in the Bible Daily

“In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

– John 1:1 (NLT)

4) Recognize God’s Voice

  • God speaks through His Word
  • God speaks through His Holy Spirit

“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!”

– Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT)
  • God speaks in line with the Bible

A Few Tips on Recognizing God’s Voice

  • Journal what you believe God is saying to you
  • Pray/ask God for clarity and

5) Ask and Look for Confirmation

  • God speaks through other Believers

“Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisers bring success.”

– Proverbs 15:22 (NLT)

6) Walk in Obedience

  • Obedience is your #1 responsibility
